Jim MacDonald: Guitar, Backing vocals

Jim is a founder member of The Adjournments. Although now a resident of the Edinburgh area for business reasons, he was born in Paisley and grew up in Glasgow and Clydebank.

He’s amassed 20 years’ experience of playing lead guitar in various bands, as a solo artist, and as an occasional session player. He now also dabbles in record production, and indeed produced The Adjournments’ debut EP, “Allegedly...”.He’s also at home as a bass player and indeed played the bass on the studio version of “So Sad” on “Allegedly...”

Always heavily influenced by the blues, he has however played various styles over the years from heavy metal to gospel and all points in between.  The influence of Peter Green, Freddie King, BB King, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughan (amongst others) are all evident in his playing.

A noted collector of guitars and associated gear, his current weapons of choice are a black Fender Stratocaster and a sexy old sunburst Yamaha SA1100 semi acoustic. He sometimes brings his early 80’s sunburst Tokai Strat out of retirement for slide guitar work (eg the screaming slide solo on So Sad). Amp wise, he has converted to the digital age with a Line 6 POD XT Live (using mainly either vintage Fender or Marshall amp models) which runs into either a Tech 21 Power Engine or sometimes a Marshall JCM 2000 head and 4 x 12 cab in larger places. He also plays a well used Epiphone AJ300 electro acoustic, which features strongly on “Allegedly...”, and is played through a Marshall AS50R acoustic amp for live work.
